GLAM ADELAIDE ★★★★.5

This show is exactly what you’re imagining – it’s DreamWork’s famous and much beloved 2001 family film, Shrek, but in the style of naughty, late-night burlesque!

All of your favourite characters from the film come to life on the stage in front of your very eyes in Swamplesque. You’ve, of course, got your headliner characters – Shrek, Donkey, Princess Fiona (also known as Princess No.3), and the evil Lord Farquaad. But, joining their sexy adventure is also the innocent Gingerbread Man (and his nipple-covering gumdrop buttons), Lord Farquaad’s servant Magic Mirror, Donkey’s beloved Dragon, and even the hooded Thelonious (a torturer and executioner under Lord Farquaad’s service) makes a leggy appearance.

Each individual routine presents a bit of background to each character, such as the Magic Mirror having an identity crisis while dancing around with LED lights to Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror. Each brings something new to the stage, from fire to green feathered fans, and all will have you cackling with laughter – who doesn’t want to see a life-size Gingerbread Man sultrily strip while wearing huge platform heels and dancing to the Pussycat Dolls song Buttons? Plus, Shrek in a thong doing the splits – yes please!
